Roskopf Glass Ball or Globe Desk Clock

$360.00

Description

The heavy, spherical design serves a brilliant dual purpose: it acts as a built-in magnifying lens to read the watch dial clearly from across a desk, and the flat bottom prevents it from rolling away. The massive glass orb naturally distorts and enlarges the Roskopf dial face inside, a design highly popular from the 1890s through the 1920s. A central brass band wraps around the equator of the glass ball, housing the mechanical movement. You can clearly see the winding crown and carrying ring at the top. Next to it is the distinct pin-set button confirming you must hold that small button down while turning the crown to adjust the hands. Please see pictures for condition details as the photos are considered part of the description.
