Description
Early, ca. 1700, frontier powder horn from the now extinct Eastern Woodlands Buffalo. The American Bison has black horns while those of the Eastern Woodlands Buffalo were brown. Unadorned but well used with marvelous patina. Original wood stopper and well worn wooden strap stop on narrow end. Plug on large end of wood with iron nail cinch for the strap attached to horn with well beautiful patina brass rivets.
