Patina consistent with age. No sizable dents or losses. Lid fits well. Can 4 pint well is correct for age. Historically used as a Hot Water Can (or “Hot Water Jack”), these were often part of Victorian and Edwardian bedroom sets to carry hot water from the kitchen to washstands. Israel Freeman & Sons was originally based in London, they then expanded with a New York office in the 1920s to facilitate luxury exports. They were renowned for high-end craftsmanship, transitioning from solid sterling silver in their early years to high-quality silver plate and decorative metals like brass as they grew into a global importer.
