Description
Shaped to resemble a handbag, this case was an important part of a ladies’ attire during social occasions. The the spring loaded hinge in the gold wash interior would have held a dance card and small writing utensil to mark who was the next scion of society would have a chance to woo her on the dance floor. Marked along one side with the British hallmarks for Sterling Silver, Birmingham, a date stamp of 1835, STERLING, and B4263.
