Lydia Garcia 1936-2023. Signed on verso with her inscription “Adam and Eve: We use to be free. But Eve ate from the forbiten tree. Well I did too. But she gave to me. Well she did. Honest. Lydia 200 Taos 09″ Lydia saw her talent as God’s blessing and her art as devotion. The finished pieces often include a short prayer. She opened Galleria Elias y Ines (named for her beloved parents) in the house built by her grandfather. She had gallery representation in Texas, Tennessee, and other states as well as in Taos, and had a solo show at the Millicent Rogers Museum in 2000.
