Johnny Garcia San Pasqual Bulto/Santo
$225.00
Description
Based in Taos, Garcia is part of the long-standing tradition of New Mexican “santeros” (carvers of saintly figures). His style is characterized by smooth, flowing lines that follow the natural grain of the wood, often cedar or pine. Known as the Patron Saint of Cooks and Kitchens, San Pasqual Baylón is an incredibly popular subject for bultos in the Southwest. He is typically shown in a humble Franciscan robe, often holding a broom or standing near a stove. In your carving, the stylized verticality emphasizes his monk-like asceticism. 10″x2″x2″ .5 lbs Please see pictures for condition details as the photos are considered a part of the description.
