Kaboulov ’02” (2002). Presented in a gold reeded frame. The painting depicts a young woman in a slip dress standing in profile, reading by lamplight in a warmly furnished interior. The palette is entirely nocturnal — deep crimsons, amber, and shadowy purple — the room glowing with artificial light. Paintings hang on the walls; a small sculpture sits on a distant table. The figure is rendered with loose, confident brushwork, almost dissolving into the warm ambient light of the room in the tradition of the French intimistes.
